“I was always doing what I like to do and what I know
how to do,” explains Zimmerman simply. “I tried
to be good at it.”
Zimmerman oversaw equipment maintenance, purchasing,
replacement and special equipment design. He also was the
coordinator for construction, building and grounds maintenance.
“Max has empathy for machines and an intuitive
understanding of how they work,” says David Tyrolt,
Dunn President. “He is a great guy with a wonderful
sense of humor and we will miss him.”
With working year round, Zimmerman and his wife
of 38 years, Judy, didn’t have much time for vacations,
but with Judy’s retirement from the Decatur Public School
District this past year, they will have plenty of time now.
“I’d also like to build a workshop,
work in my garden and yard some, but I want to be able to
take a nap when I want,” he says with a smile.
